I started with PCBoard, and stayed with that until such time I
wished for telnet connectivity. I used Irex, even with PCB as it
could dial out and log into my ISP, and send mail. Once I got
connectivity on the BBS computer, I just set it to normal to send
mail. Even after getting Synchronet, I stayed with that setup, like
I said, until very recently. Big reason for that was IPv6 Irex
could not do that.

I started with a RemoteAccess/Binkley system, which pretty much

stayed the

case. Later on, the OS/2 FOSSIL with virtual com port allowed telnet
access for the first time. Around then, I took the long break from

BBSing,

until recently, with my current Synchronet/binkd system. Binkd looked

like

the right solution for me, and it supports IPv6. Unfortunately,

Synchronet

doesn't support IPv6, so I publish 2 addresses - one for the nodelist
(which points to both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses), and the other, which

is

IPv4 only for BBS access. The address in my origin line is the IPv4

only

one.

If you look at my nodelist entry I post both a URL and an IPV6 address. Binkd
will accept either of course. There are times, for some reason when the 6 address is offline, until I reset the modem/router. Perhaps a glitch in the
line someplace.

Ladders and I do not get along any more. I had one slip out from
under me 23 years ago. I still have the scars, both physically and
mentally. I am unable to force myself up a ladder. I did it once,
and it was all I could do to get back on it to go down after the job
was done. Step ladders are OK.

Not good. :( I race up ladders, both as a straight race, as well as

with

fire hose and water (the hose is carried in a special harness). In

most

ladder events (all of the ones I run), the ladder is fixed securely

to the

staging by a clamp arrangement. In the other event, the ladder is

raised

and held in place by 3 people, which makes it springy to climb. I

have

trained this way, but the section our team is in doesn't compete that

way

(but when we go up to the next level we will). :)

Its frustrating, because there are things that I can do myself, that I am unable to because of that, and I have to rely on my son to do such when he comes to visit, or hire someone to do so. Sounds like an interesting sport (so
to speak). I have seen some of that on TV here.
