I decided to redo my uptime monitoring, and most of the free ones I've used in the past either went to a "freemium" model or stopped providing free uptime services.
I found uptimerobot.com - they offer 50 tests for free, and they test ports as well. I've got them testing my binkd port as well as a couple of others.
Notifications are going out promptly, and it's working well. One nice feature is a public status page; I have a page set up on
http://status.realitycheckbbs.org
so I can look at a glance how the BBS is doing.
