• QWK importing

From Hemo@1:103/705 to digital man on Wed Dec 7 13:00:48 2016

I reset QWK pointers for bbs logon in an attempt to download lots of historical

    messages. (1/1/1980 )

I used SCFG to edit my sub-boards for DOVE-Net, maximum messages = 9000, purge

by age enabled at 9999 days old. duplicate checking with 10000 message CRC's.

started the bbs and it polls and pulls the QWK packet, and I watch the log kick

out duplicates - good, but then I see messages like this:

synchronet: evnt !Filtering QWK message from echicken due to age: 286 days

Of course, my system will likely be processing this packet for hours because it

is a slow system with little RAM, but am I interpreting that log message to mea

n the message is not imported due to the age of the message?

If so, do I assume the SCFG setting I mentioned only works on existing messages

, and that there is some hard limit to importing messages?

    thanks,

    -Hemo

I believe you will receive all messages, and smbutil's message maintenance (See

default timed events) will filter out the old messages and messages over maximum per sub-board once it runs. Or you could run it manually with the proper options.

There is a separate setting for the maximum age of messages imported via QWK: SCFG->Message Options->Maximum QWK Message Age

I was also wondering about that. guess I'll sit back and let the processes finish up and then take another look.

I'm also seeing some messages along the lines of:
synchronet: evnt ERROR 2 (No such file or directory) in qwk.cpp line 1185 (qwk_vote) writing "/sbbs/data/subs/dove-syncdisc" access=1 info=

and I'm not sure what it is looking for. those folders did not originally exists, but even after creating them I see messages related to no such file or directory.

again.. I'm just going to let this all finish up, then I'll save a copy of the log and review it over coffee..

    Doh!

thanks for that. I'll try to look a little more through all the options of

Sorry, but those QWK messages filtered by age aren't being imported.

That error message is only useful to someone with the source code unfortunately, but I can tell you that it means that the "vote" message in the QWK packet was a duplicate and thus rejected. That's all. The "ERROR 2 (...)" part can be ignored.

I'm seeing this error as well, and as of now am unsure what it means. Glad to see you posted about it here, though.. as I asked DM about it via IRC. So at least an answer here will give more than just me the response. :)

and I'm not sure what it is looking for. those folders did not

From the error message, it looks like it has something to do with the new voting process DM is working on. Though I don't know if it's something that needs to be worried about or not just yet.

Nope. Useful for me would have been to import the messages. DM pointed out that I was only setting the limits for the groups themselves, but there are different places to set limits on how many or how old of a message you wish to import from QWK. scfg->Message Options->(Maximum QWK Messages || Maximum QWK Message Age)

I disabled those checks and re-imported. All of them.

I'm also seeing some messages along the lines of:

Thats what DM said. I removed those folders again, since I now know there aren't supposed to be there, and that I didn't forget something as I moved my data from the virtual hosting to a box at my feet. I can't reach the virtual system any longer to double check things, so this error was making me think I forgot something.

The error you reported in irc was slightly different. No, they should happen often. Some of the early test votes weren't property formatted is all.
