  • Valhalla Is Back On Port 23

    Just letting everyone know, I decided to put Valhalla Home Services back on Telnet Port 23. I moved it to port 2323, to avoid the bots, and lost all my users, so the good news we are back on Telnet Port 23, available at any of the following addresses:

    valhalla.synchro.net
    bbs.valhallabbs.com
    bbs.valhallahomeservices.com

    We have moved our GAP BBS System to Telnet Port 24, but it can also be accessed by menu option 2 on our Synchronet System at Login using Telnet Port 23.

    Hope to see all the old members back, and also see some new members. Everyone is welcome, so come and have some fun with our modern Synchronet System, or our old school GAP System, either way, you will have fun :)

    apparently you didn't let them and the telnet bbs list(s) know about the change... 2323 is also targetted by the MIRAI and variants bots, FWTw...

    we, over here, are slowly approaching our limits of watching 1000+ bot probes a
    day and are seriously considering moving to a new port... catching MIRAI was exciting in the beginning... especially wince we were one of the first ones to report it and call it "MIRAI"... then the code was released and numerous variants were created... some of which target other ports... we've seen what we
    thing are MIRAI hits on our rlogin and ssh ports... but MIRAI also targetted ssh in the beginning, too...

    now? it is crap and we have considering broadcasting to the skiddies that they need to tighten up their bullshit code and recognise what old school BBSes are that are running on port 23 and 2323 but (!) we aren't doing that because we don't want to increase the probing of old school BBSes which may lead to holes being found which may lead to compromises of our systems... so we keep quiet and fume a bit more like others of us have been doing that may or may not understand what is really going on out there...

    I changed it on every site I know of, but I still lost the traffic. It's prob a combo of going off line for a few months, and also changing the port, but the bots always found me. LOL. I've got it somewhat under control using peerblock, but it's no cure. Anyway, I'm gonna stay with this setup and hopefully the old members will return and enjoy.
