Where/how does it display the users currently logged in? I currently run my BBS in Windows, but for Linux, I think that information can be found by looking at a certain log file or perhaps by loading your BBS's web page? From what I remember, the Linux version of Synchronet also has a GUI (GTK-based?) that I think is meant to provide some information like that, similar to the Windows Synchronet control panel.

It's making a finger request to the BBS's finger service.

Yup, but I think she wanted the lister to run on a remote system (not the BBS system).

It displays the user info in a text table, and updates every minute (by default) . Im not aware of a GTK-based monitor tool, but i don't run my BBS's on local machines so not sure how that would work for me...

No, it must be run on a system with access to the BBS's node.dab file.
