I've been trying to download sbbs_dev from vert.synchro.net but have been having a problem. First, I notied the download link has 00index.html in it, so when I click the link, it says the file is not found. For instance, I'll go to vert.synchro.net and go to the file areas and then Synchronet official releases, and this is the link it has for sbbs_dev.zip: ftp://vert.synchro.net/Synchronet/00index.html/sbbs_dev.zip
So I tried copying the link and removing 00index.html, but then I'm shown the file list again and at the top it says "Index of /Synchronet/sbbs_dev.zip" with the file list. The download link for sbbs_dev.zip then is this: ftp://vert.synchro.net/Synchronet/sbbs_dev.zip/sbbs_dev.zip

There was a bug fix in the ftp directory alias stuff recently which introduce others bugs. There's nothing I can really do about right now as I'm out of the country (Germany) on business for a week.

You have options though:
1. Try a different browser (Chrome does unexpected things with FTP)
2. Go to /main/sbbs instead of the /Synchronet alias dir
3. Go to ftp.synchro.net instead

You have options though:

I logged in to Vertrauen via telnet and downloaded sbbs_dev.zip there. I may try one of the above methods next time for dowlnoading via FTP.

I hope your travels in Germany go well. I visited Germany in 1998 but haven't been back there again yet.

I'm having the same problem, trying to download the latest source/build for linux.. says page not found....
