• Addfiles not working right

From Charles Stephenson@1:226/16 to All on Sat Oct 27 18:56:21 2018
    All,

Is there a program out that can read file_id.diz and add it to the Synchronet database? When I use the flag to import file_id.diz in addfiles, it's not adding them.

    Thank you

Maybe you can post what command you're using and the results and we can let
you know how to fix it.

    All,

Is there a program out that can read file_id.diz and add it to the Synchronet database?

    Yes, addfiles.

When I use the flag to import file_id.diz in addfiles,
    it's not adding them.

Need to get that resolved and then it will.

    Not a good answer.

If it was that easy, I wouldn't have asked for another program.

Are you using the -z option?

In scfg -> File Options -> Extractable Files, do you have an extractable file type set up matching the archives you're trying to import? Are you sure that the command line specified there works?

There isn't one, that I know of. Solving whatever problem you're having with the supported tool (addfiles) is the best (and only) option I'm aware of.

It added some of my files, and the ones that I can even view from Syncrhonet, that have the file_id.diz in them, it didn't import. weird. some of the files are in the same folders as the other files. I even increased my file limit to 5000, even though no file base has more than 500 files....I ran i more than once. One time, I used the -d my mistake instead of -b and it deleted the files.bbs out of each folder after it added those diescriptions. I thought it it migh be the compression program, but I haven't changed any of the default ones either. These are regular WIndows/DOS files.. I've been messing with
it for over a week. That's why I asked if there was another problem besides addfiles.. ugh.

Only thing I can think of, maybe the command to 'extract' got messed up, but
it imported other files in other folders with the same file extention. I haven't messed with the settings in scfg, since they're just regular ZIP,
ARJ, PAK, and TGZ. I added the compression strings I got from someone else (maybe it was this echo, or FSX) but I added 2 or 3 archivers..

I've been leeching alot of files off your BBS lately. I've seen alot of cool add-ons, but I haven't been reading the descriptions carefully, alot of the ones I wanna use are for Windows... I'm using DOS. You DO have ALOT of good programs. Do you know of another BBS that carries linus specific mods(well, nods can be for either OS)/add-ons for SBBS?

...Maybe I'll delete my file database and try it again.. only problem with THAT is I accidently deleted the files.bbs files I had in each of my folders. Not all the files in the folders are listed in my files.bbs, but there are atleast half of them listed..

    Thanks

Without more information my first guess would be you don't have your compression programs setup correctly. SBBS uses compression programs to open the file based on type and extract the file_id.diz data.

If for example unzip.exe is failing then addfiles won't be able to open .zip files.

Go into SCFG and look for the compression options, respond here with what settings you have.

ALSO, respond with with OS you're running, etc.
