login via web ftelnet interface.. and the games work perfectly fine.
That's bizarre. The only difference that springs to mind immediately is that when using ftelnet, the rlogin/telnet connection is made from localhost (the websocket service on the BBS connects to rlogin or telnet on the BBS and proxies between the browser and the terminal server).
I can't imagine why that would make a difference. Out of curiosity, does it work if you telnet to the BBS from the BBS server?
Has anyone tried to use Dosemu with linux only to find the game they aretrying

I've had this happen to a few games only to discover that running the same games with no configuration changes via the ftelent application through echickens webv4 interface... works.
One of those WTF moments for me. The game will run locally (outside of bbs
running dosemu from a terminal), but through the bbs, I've tried syncterm, putty, netrunner... telnet and ssh ports all with the same result of thegame
acting as though input has stopped.the

again.. WTF. I am guessing there is some character sequence happening when
game starts up that is affecting some terminal programs and not ftelnet. orthe

No, all the DOSEMU doors that I have attempted to configure all work perfectly fine using syncterm. If you have a specific door that is causing you an issue post the download location and I'll take a look.

Do these games work when you use fTelnet from your Home page, and navigate to your external programs section on the BBS? Or do they only work if you go to your Games page and launch a specific door?

This one I can play in a dosemu window outside of the BBS, or as a door via ftelnet. If I am using syncterm/putty/or any telnet/ssh client to connect
the BBS and run the same door, it loads and displays the splash page of the game and then acts as though it never receives any more keyboard input. After
4-5 minutes it will time out and return you to the BBS for 'no activity'.is

Seems to be working here. There does seem to be a problem where it's hanging when it should return to the BBS but should be trivial to figure that out. I've seen it before but I can't remember the fix for it.

Don't try and do it on CentOS ? Is there a specific reason ? I've never really seen any specific reasons for people to make this statement, other
they have been unable to find and obtain plug and play solutions.its
The majority of the games I have installed work perfectly fine with dosemu,
just a couple oddball games that act up. They technically run just fine, but
keyboard mapping and/or control is lost when they start up. Not bad for programs written 24 years ago and running them on todays architechure and software I guess.using
And recently, I discovered that the keyboard control is maintained when
ftelnet. That points me more to the terminal program being affected by some output of the dosemu or program than anything else. For all I know it is a documented item and syncterm/putty are responding exactly as they should be according to documentation and ftelnet is not. Or vice versa. or somethingelse
entirely. Going to try enabling massive debug output and filtering through characters at games startup.system,
I appreciate you taking time to look at this and 'try it out' on your
unrequested. I may be trying a different DOS package too and see how that affects the games.

CentOS is primarily an Enterprise Server targeted OS. Packages are never going to be at the latest version from repos targeting CentOS. This is because it is designed to be a very stable platform. The devs are very focused on the Enterprise environment and things like desktop apps and especially something like DOSEMU is not what they would focus on. Believe me, I have tried this as I have many productions servers running CentOS so I initially tried it for my BBS and getting DOSEMU to work was just a total frustration. There were no functioning packages and even compiling did not work. Ubuntu 18.04 just worked. Install from the repo, follow instructions on the wiki, it worked.
Given these door programs were written in the 1990's for a DOS based system, it's a bloody wonder we are able to run them at all.
The key is, use the right tool for the job. For running a Synchronet BBS CentOS is not the right tool. This comes from a big Fedora/Centos/RedHat fan!
