in TickIT, how do i tell it to use "File Distribution" for the uploader name instead of using user #1's name?

When tickit imports files here the uploader name is -> ADDFILES <-. There might be a way to change that to something else if you modify the tickit.js but I have not looked into that.

If you use addfiles to import files you can use the -x parameter to change the uploader name.

that's what i just found out when i went to check to see if the lowercase filegate.zxx actually did replace the uppercase FILEGATE.ZXX... it did not in the file system, which i kinda expected... but addfiles put two Filename fields
in the record... one all caps and the other all lower... the file size of the initial all caps one was still used... then i messed up and ended up deleting the record and the file :( oh well, i'll get a new one soon enough :lol:

right but not from TickIT... TickIT calls addfiles... however i've just seen where DM has added an option to TickIT's global section where we can specify a default uploader name... that'll work perfectly for my desires... once i update
sbbs, that is... i think my update script that max and i worked on will need some changes based on what i think i remember reading in the last few months :)

Add the new 'uploader' key value to the ctrl/tickit.ini file.

In this case, you could just update the one file (tickit.js) - you don't need anything else (new).

Sure. Hopefully it works. I don't actually use TickIT (yet).

when i decided to go with synchronet to replace my 25+ year old FD/FE/RA/Allfix/JAMNNTPd/GIGO setup, i decided to go all in with everything including BinkIT, TickIT and friends... overall, it all works pretty damned well... there are a few glitches and gotchas here and there but it still works well...

short list:
1. i still don't have any idea why my session level passwords got uppercased and i haven't been able to repeat that... i've taken to editing sbbsecho.ini by
hand if there's one quick thing i need to change and have only used echocfg a few times since discovering the glitch... i'm probably going to write a script that runs echocfg and then diffs sbbsecho.ini with sbbsecho.0.ini because i don't always thing to check the file to see what has changed when i exit echocfg...

2. adding files areas to sbbs is simple enough with the importing of the filegate.zxx like importing backbone.na... however getting all those areas into
TickIT is a bit painful... i manually typed them in... once they are in TickIT,
there's not much else to do unless you have typos or missing paths... i had a few that were too short and i mixed up - and _ a time or two but once corrected, everything works...

3. something related to the files areas has twice now created empty directories
in my ctrl directory instead of the specified data/dirs directory... i deleted all the ctrl/fido- directories the first time i found them but they appeared again some time later when i was working on them... i have no clue what software did that because i can't easily find what i was doing at the time of creation in the logs... but they are all my fido- areas and not any of the Main
Files group that comes default... 321 directories all created Sept 30 17:06 which was local time but the log is still in UTC time...

4. in scfg, some areas you can add a new entry by hitting the END key to go to the bottom of the list and then hit ENTER to edit the blank entry there... other areas you _must_ hit the INSert key to add a new record... some of those new records start blank while others (eg: listable, testable files) will be duplicated from another record and then you can edit them as needed...

Did you have a binkit.ini file? Maybe they were uppercase in that file and got merged into sbbsecho.ini if/when you ran "jsexec binkit upgrade"?

I've written a script that'll help with exporting your file areas to ticket.ini. Search the synchronet message areas, the link is out there somewhere.

no, never had binkit.ini... pulled clean from the CVS on 2018 09 22... it took me two build attempts because i forgot a few things before running my "installsbbs" script which basically does what the wiki says to do to get the GNUmakefile and then running make...

once the system was in place i was wading through the wiki figuring things out and trying to do them in order... once user #1 and guest were set up, then i started looking at the message areas because i had to get back online fast and start hubbing the backbone echos... i used a printed copy of the old system's binkd.conf to set up all the connected systems and their session passwords... i entered all that information via echocfg...

when i thought everything was ready, i made one poll to one of the other backbone stars and pulled in a huge amount of mail which was processed and then distributed to the connected systems... that's when i saw binkit was having problems with some of them and that was due to passwords having been changed... once i corrected them, the connections worked properly...

no systems were able to connect inbound for another few hours because i had my domain as NXDOMAIN in the DNS... after i was satisfied that the majority of my connections were reconnected to everything, then i started my DNS updater for dynip.com and within a minute or two, the system was being beaten on from outside connections :lol:

a little while later, i set up the SESTAR account on VERT and started using SESTAR.SYNCHRO.NET as well as pulling QWK-network mail... i still have more to do on that ""side of the fence"" (eg: getting my IRC connected to the rest of the synchro.net IRC network)...

anyway, sorry for the ramble but just wanted to be clear on the steps taken...
