have i missed something? i can't get BinkIT to deliver mail and files to point systems unless i set them as Poll=yes... all of the necessary information is available in the point's echocfg record...

polling them is ok but then it polls them when there's no mail or files waiting to go... it would be a lot better if it just sent the mail like it does for normal nodes...

I have noticed this too.. I only have one point setup (my own) so it hasn't been a problem, I just poll from the point. I do have a new point setting up ATM and I think that node will want to be crash once the setup is complete so I agree, it would be better if binkit would crash those points if they are setup that way.

for now, as a quick work-around, i've just set the BINKPOLL event to fire 96 times a day...

all my links are configured as Normal Direct... no need for Crash, really... i have a few with password problems that i have as Hold until we can figure out why we can't get secure sessions...

hunh? oh! yeah, that's due to a password problem that we've got to figure out... did you figure out how to add my other addresses to your radius setup? we should probably remove all my addresses from your system except for my 1:3634/12 address and see if that works... i even tried to turn off cram-md5 for your system but still see cram-md5 being reported in the password error...

Sounds like BinkIT is a bit "old school". Back in the day, points generally polled their boss, not the other way, because the boss was on 24x7, but points generally weren't. With today's Internet connectivity, that is no longer the case, and a boss node polling a point is entirely reasonable.

True, though most points didn't listen for calls. Mine never did, not even at a pre-arranged hour. Switching phones in and out with old tech would have been an issue. Nothing worse than being woken up by a phone ringing in the middle of the night, because you forgot to pull it out! :D But yes, it was technically feasible. :)
