Where do I put the BACKBONE.NA and NODELIST files?

Also, I am going to look at the Binkley that came with the Syncronet BBS package.

I wish I picked this up 30 years ago when I was first interested. Always
have been.

BACKBONE.NA can be imported using scfg, if you want to carry ALL os the listed Fidonet echoes. I only carry a small subset of the Fidonet echoes available to me.

That would be BinkIT, which is well worth trying. I use binkd, mainly because I ran it with a previous version of Synchronet and I like it, so I've kept using it. For most new sysops like yourself, I recommend using BinkIT as your mailer. It's built into Synchronet and works very well. Similarly, when you get around to setting up a TIC processor, I recommend TickIT, which I do use myself and quite like.

Oh, so you're a first time sysop? Welcome aboard, yes it's a pity you didn't get on back then, those days were awesome on BBSs. I'm more a returned sysop. I was a sysop back in the 1990s, then was out of it for many years and then got back into it at the end of 2015. :)

I think I know the spot, just don't know where to put the file, unless I
simply define where I plopped in in that menu option.

Thanks for the welcomes. I picked up a wall mount monitor so I can
observe the BBS and VNC into the machine.

VNC is actually rather confusing due to the cloud being the way to get
around.

I have someone getting into my VNC stuff,but find Team Viewer to work
fine. So VNC with it's encription should work out fine.

It's quite good, working well on my BBS. Getting a steady stream of new files as they arrive in the fil echos.

I do ham radio as well, never stopped me BBSing. Actually, in an indirect way, ham radio played a part in starting my BBSing hobby, because I moved in with another ham when I moved to the city, and he got me started in calling BBSs. :)
I did run a packet system for a while, then later setup a dialup BBS. :)

I just run SSH, as my BBSs run on Linux on a Banana Pi. :)

Back in the old days, I used to remotely control the BBS using DOORWAY, which was a door that allowed access to DOS. So I'd log in as normal (with sysop access), and go into the Shell to DOS option that I setup, which would start DOORWAY and give me DOS access over the modem. :)

How times have changed, now I can SSH in, without having to take over the BBS. :)
