• Auto Add Sub-boards Feature

    From Rmh@1:103/705 to All on Sat Jul 28 18:39:43 2018
    Guys,

    I am not sure what I am doing wrong or missing with the configurations.

    I got the following at ctrl/sbbsecho.ini:

    AutoAddSubs = true

    [node:24:300/0]
    Name = Sportnet
    Comment = That
    Archive = None
    PacketType = 2+
    PacketPwd =
    AreaFix = true
    AreaFixPwd = pwd
    SessionPwd = pwd
    TicFilePwd = pwd
    Inbox =
    Outbox =
    Passive = false
    Direct = false
    Notify = true
    Keys =
    Status = Normal
    Route = 24:300/0

    GroupHub = Sportnet
    BinkpHost = applewood.linkpc.net
    BinkpPort = 24554
    BinkpPoll = true
    BinkpAllowPlainAuth = true
    BinkpAllowPlainText = true
    BinkpSourceAddress =

    And I got as a Sub-board in exec/scfg , (short name): Sportnet.

    I get some echomails from Sportnet but everything just goes into the badareas and nothing gets created.

    Am I missing anything at all out of the configuration??

    Many thanks!!

    Are you confusing Message Groups with Sub-boards?

    I get some echomails from Sportnet but everything just goes into the badareas and nothing gets created.

    Am I missing anything at all out of the configuration??

    Here is the description of the "AutoAddSubs" setting, from EchoCfg help:
    Automatically Add New Subs to Area File, when set to Yes, enables
    SBBSecho to detect newly added Sub-boards in any Message Groups that
    are listed with a Linked Node as their hub/uplink and add those
    Sub-boards as new areas in your Area File.

    The "GroupHub" is supposed to be the short name of a Message Group (not a sub-board). If you have a Message Gropu with a short name of "Sportnet" and you create any sub-boards within that group (in SCFG->Message Areas->Sportnet->Sub-boards), then those sub-boards can be automatically added to your area file (areas.bbs) with this feature.

    Sorry guys, I believe I misunderstood how this works! http://wiki.synchro.net/util:sbbsecho

    If the AutoAddSubs feature is enabled, sub-boards configured in SCFG?Message Areas may be automatically added to your Area File when the network hub (your uplink) has be configured in EchoCfg?Linked Nodes and the ?Group Hub? setting for that link set to the name of the corresponding message group in SCFG?Message Areas. This Auto-Add procedure happens during SBBSecho initialization and is not dependent upon receiving any echomail messages for the configured message areas.

    So the Areas are being automatically added to the Areas file (areas.bbs) but they have to exist in the Area sub-board for all this happening.

    Is there anyway the Areas are being created automatically ? That the sub-boards are being automatically created upon notification fron the AreaFix whenever a new echomail arrives?

    Many thanks!!!

    You could automatically import your badareas.lst file using the 'scfg -import=/path/to/badareas.lst -g<group>' option, that's why it was created though I'm not sure anyone's really used this feature yet.

    You'd want to run this while SBBSecho was *not* running (so, maybe as a timed event) and delete the badareas.lst file after you've imported it.

    Have Vince send you over the SportNet infopak. In that file is a file called sportnet.na. Use that to automatically import all your subs into that specific group. You'll notice an IMPORT feature in the Group section. Choose the Fidonet option (.na).

    If you can't get it from Vince, send a .REQ to 1:266/404 or 24:24/0 with the magic name: SPORINFO

    why? sending raw PKT files is perfectly fine... especially in this day in age with highspeed internet connections and servers taht compress the data on the fly... this is not the first time i've pointed this out to you, mr. starr... i don't understand why you keep pushing this as a problem...
