Hi

Well I have been working on fixing the sewsgroup mess on one of my BBS's,
and came accrossed and was wondering if there was an easy way to fix it,
when i inport a lot of newsgroups it of coutse adds them all to the area of
my choiceing and then i need to go in and setup up a few settings and then clone the first thats all fine but as we know some news groups start out
the same way like for example.

ALT.BBS
ALT.BBS.ADEPTSOFT
ALT.BBS.ADS
ALT.BBS.ALLSYSOP
ALT.BBS.AMIGA
ALT.BBS.BOARDWATCH
ALT.BBS.DOORS
ALT.BBS.DOORS.LORD
ALT.BBS.DOORS.PROGRAMM
ALT.BBS.DREALMBBS
ALT.BBS.GENERAL
ALT.BBS.INIQUITY
ALT.BBS.INTERNET
ALT.BBS.LISTS

now here is my prob as we see they all start with ALT.BBS witch will make
the "Internal Code" ALTBBS for all 14 areas witch we know will be a prob
and i have been noticeing this has been a prob on some areas on my system
for a wile now i was just wondering if there is a easy fix for this,? befor
i go and add a few 1000 areas to the bbs.

If you're importing the newsgroups into SCFG->Message Areas, it should automatically generate *unique* internal codes, regardless if the newsgroup names are similar. At least, that's what its designed/supposed to do. Is it not?

Hi

I will check it out agian and see if i can recreat the prob, I just
imported over 2,000 newsgroups into the system i will see if any of them
have the prob, anyway well i have u here, how do i put the FLAG i in the newslink.cfg file do i do it on its own toward the top of the file like
FLAG I

or do i do it on eatch area line the the -i and then after it runs the
remove the -i from eatch line? let me know thanks.

That'll work, if you want to specify the 'I' flag for all areas.

You can leave it. It only has an effect on the initial import however.
