Is there a way to move message area out of one group and into another group and have it keep all the messages it currently has in them?
I have tried this with one message base and now I have no messages in any of them. I wanted to split up my FidoNet areas to have 25 in eah and I did this but now none of the areas have messages in them. Beofre I moved them they all had messages in them. I got some others I want to do this with but not if this is going to happen if I split them up.
Is there a way to move message area out of one group and into another group and have it keep all the messages it currently has in them?

Did you change the internal code prefix for the message group? Doing so will change the internal codes of all the subs within that group, so
you'd have to do some file renaming (in data/subs).

I think that can be done if the internal code of the message area still matches the internal code after moving it to the new area. If its internal code changes, I believe you should be able to just rename the files for the sub-board to match the new internal code. I believe the sub-board files are stored in the sbbs\data\subs directory.
Yes, so long as the "internal code" remains the same. If you change the internal code, then you'll need to copy or rename the data/subs/<code>.* files to suit.
