• Move sub boards to a different directory with different prefix

From Rmh@1:103/705 to All on Mon May 14 17:41:35 2018
    People

Do you know if there is a way of moving a set of sub-boards to a different prefix?

    For example:
it was previously stored at data/subs/fido-data1/
    and prefix: data1_

    and now you want:
    data/subs/other-data1/
    and prefix: other1_

I had a go with an existing subboard and it doesn't seem to work too well doing those changes through exec/scfg and moving files/directories around..

    Many thanks

The prefix and the subdirectory where the files are stored are two separate settings. The prefix applies to the filenames themselves, and I the directory to store them is under Advanced Options for each sub-board.

This is the only way that I know of. It's a lot of work and you need to be carefull not to do any typos.

You'll have to rename the database files by hand, unfortunately.

I have done it again, very slowly and board by board and I managed in the end...

I had to be very careful the names and the rest of details match exactly, then in the end I could read the contents of the boards again...

    Many thanks!

    You could use wildcards.

In the end I scripted the move.

Nevertheless, what was your idea about using wilcards?? Can you share with us please?
I would be very interested to hear more alternatives for the future

As usual, any thanks for your help.

The syntax will vary with the OS/shell you use, but something like:

    ren fido_*.* new_*.*

ah! yeah. That's similar to what I did.
