    Hello,

I need to reinstall my windows OS.

How should I proceed with Synchronet?

Save complete SBBS directory, reinstall and then copy the backup over it?

That usually works for me when I have re-installed Windows. Remember to set the SBBSCTRL environment variable to point to the location of your sbbs\ctrl directory, and starting with Windows 7 (I think), you need to copy your sbbsexec.dll to your C:\Windows\system32 directory.

Definately save your SBBS directory and then copy over what you need like most of the data directory and the configs you need from the ctrl directory. If you have modified any of your display files in your text or web directory copy them as well.

There is no quick and easy way to do that so just take your time.. :)

If you are simply reinstalling your OS you can simply unzip your backup (with directories) to the new file system.

In my previous post I was thinking you were upgrading. Not a bad idea but you can start from where you are now if you like.

Sure there is, I've found that you can basically just save your whole sbbs tree and copy it to the new machine.

    To me sounds correct.
But I would rather try to install the exact same version to avoid potential issues...

    Hi Nighfox,

    thanks for the hints.
No. Windows 10, Windows 7 didn't run on that machine.
