• Tear and Origin

From Keith Matthews@3:712/620 to All on Sat Mar 31 13:29:15 2018
Arghh now what have I done....

Why have none of my Dovenet and FidoNet messages got tear lines or Origin Lines?

I swear I had them before.

And I know they are setup in SCFG.

Maybe I should get some sleep!

    hehehe

Why have none of my Dovenet and FidoNet messages got tear lines or Origin Lines?

They have them, you just will not see them until they are exported.

you will IF the echomail processor has an option to rewrite the local copy of the message and add them... that was a fantastic feature back in the '80s when it was first added to a popular mail tosser... then most all of them started doing the same... the question is if sbbsecho will advance far enough to have this feature/option ;)

No plans to do that. I don't believe that an FTN origin line (or any other network-specific tear/tag line) should be added to the original message.

are they added for QWK networks?

i've kinda always thought the BBS should put them in if the message area is configured as a networked area

QWK taglines are added upon export to that network-type. So you shouldn't see QWK taglines (from Vertrauen) on a FidoNet and you won't see Vertaruen's origin lines in a QWK network. Messages that have been *gated* from another network-type will have the origin's tag/origin line in addition to Vertrauen (the gateway)'s network-specific tear/tag/origin lines.

i've kinda always thought the BBS should put them in if the message area is configured as a networked area

    No, not with Synchronet.

Only when exported to other systems, I believe, just like FTN.
