Re: ftelnet not working on webpage

Recently I noticed that the ftelnet applet no longer works on my Syncronet generated webpage, So I decided to try other Synchronet webpages.
The first problem is that the version you're using is Flash based, and that plugin is disabled by default in many browsers now.
The second problem is that I am unable to connect to a "Flash Socket Policy Server" at the same domain that you're serving fTelnet from. This server needs to be running so that the Flash plugin can connect to it and find that it has permission to connect to other ports on your server.
There should be an entry like this in your ctrl/services.ini file:
[FlashPolicy]
Port=843
Command=flashpolicyserver.js
And you should have port 843 open on / forwarded to your BBS server.
I tried several BBS's listed on the Synchronet BBS list.
They could all be similarly misconfigured, or be having entirely different problems. Whether it's an older Flash based client or a newer websocket/HTML5 one, there are configuration steps that tend to trip people up.
Ultimately the best solution would be to update to a newer version of fTelnet.
