I am trying to add a cd that I have copied to my hard drive to my file areas in a area of it's own. I have read from wiki.synchro.net what it said to do there and it is not working I get no files added when I did what it said to do there.


Can someone please help me wiht the proper syntax for typing this in from a command prompt like it said to do from c:\sbbs\exec


I did what it said there from the section adding files from a slow media device to add them to the file are I had specified and when I typed it in the command prompt it came back and said it had added 323 files but when I logged on my bbs and looked for them there was nothing there. So I am sure I am doing something wrong here. This disc I am working with has a files.bbs in each directory for each area and I am trying to add them one are at a time. I am doing this one area at a time because I want to make sure they are going to be displayed the way i want them to be.


One added note I am not going to have the disc's in my cd-rom I am going to copy them to my hard drive to be used from there.

Please provide more details about exactly what command you tried and what the output displayed was.

After it completed it said 323 files had been added. But when I logged onto my bbs there was no files in the new area I had created.

is the file are on a shareware CD> or a single directory?

are you running linux or win?

let say you have 200 files under c:\dos that you want to create a file area called DOS RELATED FILES

it's easier for me to make sub folders for each file area I have, example

under windows:

Windows/Dos Related Files
located in the main folder c:\bbsfiles\windos

copy those 200 files to c:\bbsfiles\windos\dos
you'll have other areas too

c:\bbsfiles\windos\win
c:\bbsfiles\windos\incoming
c:\bbsfiles\windos\editors

Here are some SCGF examples, Linux is about the same except paths setup, etc,

you can use addfiles under /sbbs/exec to populate the file areas if you have ffiles.bbs, or use the ;upload command.

And the list file is named "com_a_f"? I thought you had said it was files.bbs. Anyway, you don't need to give the full path if the file is in the file storage director you have configured for that directory in SCFG->File Areas. I was actually asking for the copy/pasted output of when you ran the command. In any case, look at the data files, data/dirs/coma_f.* - do they exist and are non-zero-bytes in length? If yes, then files were added to the filebase successfully.

I was typing in to much to get it to work correctly. I had a feeling I was doing something wrong.
