• Sysops or Moderators or Admins...

From Simulant@1:103/705 to All on Tue Mar 6 07:26:15 2018
Hey also I'm setting up a few users to hopefully help out on the BBS and keep everything organised and under control. Are all helpers just Sysops or can you have modetators or such? To set them up do I just give them a higher security number than 90 or 50? Also do I have to give them a Sysop flag so they can post on the Sysop message area?

Thanks. I keep reading the wiki pages but it is hard to really understand the "normal" way to go about things without asking dumb queations sometimes! Not that I like to be "normal" or anything...

You can setup Moderators for message areas, you can also have Co-System Operators, etc, and set ANY USER, ANY Privelidge throug ARS. check the wiki on ARS. security levels, etc.. Synchronet is one of the most versitile BBS systems to do this.. you can set a user to have access to your whole computer system, bit not give this access to Guest level stuff.. It's very flexible.. anything you imagine can be done.

You can have moderators that are not sysops.

Usually co-sysops will have a security level between 90-98 (e.g. so they can't read your password):

No, you don't have to give them any special flags.

There's the old sysop manual too:
