• Updating SBBS list ports

From Simulant@1:103/705 to digital man on Fri Mar 2 17:02:16 2018
Hi when I added my BBS to the SBBSLIST I entered the default ports without realising I would then have to change these due to conflicts...

I thought after a altered my BBS ports on my own SBBSLIST they would auto-update on the vert.synchro.net list at midnight. But when I check the listing on vert.synchro.net the old ports are still shown. Is there any way I can get these amended or do I just need to wait longer for some kind of auto export?

    Thanks for any help :)

The only BBS entry in the SYNCDATA conferece I see for "Amstrad BBS" is dated Feb-26:

    | Subj: Amstrad BBS ## ## ## | To : SBL # # # #
    | From: Simulant (SIMULANT) # ## #
    | Date: Mon Feb 26 2018 03:00 am UTC+1:00 (4.9 days ago) ## # ##

There's been no new entry posted since then.

Do you have the "SBL2SMB" timed event configured correctly and can you check your event log that is running? The example configurations are shown here: http://wiki.synchro.net/module:sbbslist

give it atleast 48 hours, maybe your sbl has'nt processed it yest, it processes it in a nighly event, then posts, then is sent when vert is called, then dm's system has to process it.

Just use the V for verify to verify your BBS and it should change your info on DM's list page.

Is there a way I can switch those users round and use amstrad as my qwk-id instead?

So maybe I have to wait 7 days with that setting for the ports to update to the right ones?

what is a QWKID user? you do not need to create a user named the same as your qwkid, just set your qwekid under scfg and forget it, since you've already been active using this one might as well stick with it right? if you go to create a new one, and don't clear your message bases out there may be some issues.

Anyone that downloads QWK (offline reader or networking) packet from your BBS will see your QWK-ID and use it in reference to your BBS (they know that VERT.REP is the "REPly" packet for Vertrauen, for example).

It also shows in the message headers that come from your BBS:

No. In fact, the easier way to adjust your QWK settings (include sub-boards in the packets) is from the QWK: prompt anyway. But I just swapped your usernames and passwords (Simulant<->AMSTRAD), so you should be good to go. No changes needed on your end.

what is a QWKID user? you do not need to create a user named the same
    as
    you
    r
qwkid, just set your qwekid under scfg and forget it, since you've already b
    een
active using this one might as well stick with it right? if you go to create
    a
new one, and don't clear your message bases out there may be some issu
    es.

hi thanks. who sees the qwkid, is it worth changing or does it not help t
    he
    users in any way?

Anyone that downloads QWK (offline reader or networking) packet from your BB
    S
will see your QWK-ID and use it in reference to your BBS (they know that VERT.REP is the "REPly" packet for Vertrauen, for example).

It also shows in the message headers that come from your BBS:

    +------------------------....
    | Subj: Updating SBBS list ports
    | Attr: Replied ## ##
    ##
    | To : KK4QBN # # #
    #
    | From: Simulant (SIMULANT) # ##
    #
    | Date: Tue Mar 06 2018 06:42 am UTC (15.5 hours ago) ## #
    ##
    +-----------------------------------------------......

Let me know if you want me to change it (swap the normal and QWKnet user). I think it's a good idea.

Hi thanks, ok let's swap it while the BBS is still new then if you don't mind please. Much appreciated. I'll update my config now so that the "amstrad" QWK-ID is used instead. It makes more sense. If you can just swap them over and then my simulant user can just be to post etc instead. Thanks again!

Yeah, but I'd have to change the account types here on Vertrauen. Righ
    t
now, Amstrad is a normal user account and SIMULANT is a QWKnet account (for a BBS connection).

Is it worth changing them or does it not matter?

It's up to you, but it is a bit odd to have your QWK-ID the same as your ali
    as.
What do you have set in SCFG->Message Options->BBS ID?

    digital man

I've just gone in to SCFG>Message Options>BBS ID and put AMSTRAD instead so hopefully now everything should match and work ok once you've swapped those user accounts. Thanks :)

No. In fact, the easier way to adjust your QWK settings (include sub-boards
    in
the packets) is from the QWK: prompt anyway. But I just swapped your usernam
    es
and passwords (Simulant<->AMSTRAD), so you should be good to go. No changes needed on your end.

    Thanks that is awesome!
