• WEB INTERFACE

From Daryl Stout@1:103/705 to ECHICKEN on Tue Feb 27 13:03:00 2018
I downloaded your web interface from GitHub, backed up the entire SBBS directory, modified the modopts.ini, copied the needed files over, and restarted the BBS. But, I still have the "current web interface" (a
modified color theme off the original default theme) instead of the new
one. Do I need to modify the web path??

I've got things set to copy back over, if it doesn't work...but I was
curious to give it a try.

You need to change the web root directory in sbbs.ini.

Depends on where you put the new 'web' directory (from the GitHub repo). There is a RootDirectory key in the [Web] section of sbbs.ini that you use to point to a different document root, if it's something other than '/sbbs/web/root'.

The 'Quick start' instructions cover this by suggesting you rename the current 'web' directory and then paste the new one in its place.

You need to change the web root directory in sbbs.ini.

I originally had the web root directory as ..\web\root -- and didn't
change it when I made the modification to the "modified color scheme of
the default". I briefly had it at ..\web\ecwebv3, but went back to
    ..\web\root for the web deal.

In the docs for the interface from GitHub, it said if one had moved
the deal to ecwebv3, it needed to go back to root, and that's what my
setup shows in the sbbs.ini file.

I had backed up all the directories, but may just restore the ctrl and
web ones to what they were...even though right now, calling up the
website shows "the enhanced color scheme" to the default setup.

It's very likely that the RootDirectory value in sbbs.ini is pointing to the wrong place, or that you didn't successfully copy my replacement 'web' directory over.

    This really should work:

    1) Shut down your BBS
    2) Rename your current 'web' directory to 'web.old'
    3) Paste my replacement 'web' directory as /sbbs/web
    4) Verify that RootDirectory points to /sbbs/web/root
    5) Verify that web_directory in modopts.ini [web] points to ../web
    6) Restart your BBS

Daryl, did you have any preexisting inxex files in /web/root ? you may possibly have one in ther superseding the index.sjs

    Tim,

Daryl, did you have any preexisting inxex files in /web/root ? you may possib K>have one in ther superseding the index.sjs

There may have been. I probably should've just copied over the ctrl
and web directories to a safe area, then deleted the current web
directory, and put the new one in. But, that'll wait until sometime
    next week.

I'm normally not up at this hour, but a glitch developed on the BBS,
and I saw I had a ton of incoming mail to process. Since I'll be doing
errands for my Mom later today, I figured I had better take care of this
