    We are VERY fortunate to have the site. We (the Club) have a lot of RQ>equipment there, including the TNC's for my packet BBS. D-STAR, DMR, RQ>analog/digital combinations on many different amateur bands. We have an RQ>agreement with our hosts that we will provide emergency backup RQ>communications for the area and we also provide backup Internet for them. RQ>There is also a fire lookout tower there (just across an imaginary line) RQ>inside the Sequoia National Forest in which the volunteers use a wi-fi RQ>hotspot we provide.

    That's nice. Shinall Mountain in western Pulaski County, has a lot of
    TV and Radio towers on it, and some ham radio repeaters.

    We have one here every Monday at 1930 local time on the Club's analog RQ>repeaters (all linked at the same site on four different bands)

    The National Weather Service offices around here have started their
    Skywarn Spotter Training. I'm going to a local one on Feb. 23, weather permitting.

    We don't have many funnel clouds here and even fewer tornados, but we do RQ>get them. Probably 3 in the last 10 years in Tulare County, one with very RQ>minor damage here in Visalia near the Medical Center.

    I remember one tornado event in Arkansas...similar to the one in
    Joplin, Missouri...where the local hospital took a direct hit.

    Our "local" weather center (HNX) is in the next (Kings) county, a 30 minute RQ>drive from the house. They have several ham radios set up for use should RQ>the need arise. It is sad, however, that last December they couldn't get RQ>enough volunteers for the Skywarn Recognition Day, so it was cancelled. We RQ>do, however, have Skywarn training provided by them occasionally.

    I was Net Control for the VoIP Hurricane Prep Net as soon as Skywarn Recognition Day was to end, so I didn't bother going out to the local
    National Weather Service office.
