    Rob,

I think what's likely happen is that the user is sitting, inactive, at some DM>uninterruptable prompt when you've hit F10.

I'm not sure what command shell he's using, but he's also running
    SBBS.

    <snip!>

I think there's room for improvement in this regard and will look into makin DM>more prompts "interruptable".

All I could think of was the employees in the restaurant, constantly
    saying "Serve you??" :P

BTW, I did get the Avatars deal working...found the Wiki on it. I
chose the piano keys one for myself...too bad there isn't one for trains
or amateur radio...at least not yet. :)

    Rob,

Yeah, me neither. One-on-one, whether it be e-mail, facebook messaging, or DM>chat, usually has me thinking: more people should be seeing this conversatio DM>so I may not have to repeat myself, again, quite so much. :-)

That's like the sequence from the movie "What's Up, Doc?" with Barbara Streisand and Ryan O'Neil. She tells him that he's repeating himself,
and he says "I'm not repeating myself!! I'm not repeating myself!! Oh,
    God!! I'm repeating myself!!" <G>

I agree. Though it seemed that some users just liked to chat and get to know N>the sysop a bit.

One of the bulletins on my BBS, a combination of several on the
subject of "So, You Want To Be A Sysop??"...has some reasons why the
user paged the Sysop (mostly at ungodly hours)...such as to say "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii"...or "just checking to see if you were there"!! :P

That's why one uses a speaker than can have the plug pulled. :D Actually, my board became a sort of confessional every now and then, I've had users share some pretty deep and personal things, so I was more like a counsellor or bartender at times. :) It did mean that I never got sick of being paged, because chances were it was something worth talking about or at least listening to.

:) And these days, with an internet/telnet BBS, there's even more reason a user could page the sysop at any time of day. I actually have my BBS PC speakers turned off almost all the time, so I wouldn't hear a user paging me..

I've seen sysop pager/chat doors that let you configure what hours to allow users to page you. I don't remember if Synchronet has that feature..

Actually, look in the "Miscelleneous Doodles" collection and you'll see a HAM rig. It has my callsign in it, but that's easily changed to yours (using the online Avatar editor).

I have some doors that have internal page/chat routines, but the
computer is in the front room of the apartment, and I sleep in the back
bedroom of "this 960 square foot dollhouse". :P
