  • Sharing avatars over message networks

    Hi DM,

    If there are BBSes that carry Dove-Net but also host other message networks, I was curious if avatars shared over Dove-Net will also be displayed in messages on other networks? If the same user(s) who have posted on Dove-Net also post in another message network, will Synchronet BBSes display their avatar in their messages on the other message networks (assuming the BBS also carries Dove-Net)?

    Yes, if the "other networks" are QWK-based and the user's name and the BBS QWK-ID is the same, then yes.

    If the "other network" is an fido-style network (FTN), then the avatars will only be displayed if they were shared into an FTN-shared SYNDATA-like message area (like the SYNCDATA echo on FidoNet).

    If the same user(s) who have posted on Dove-Net
    also post in another message network, will Synchronet BBSes display their avatar in their messages on the other message networks (assuming the BBS also carries Dove-Net)?

    If it's another QWKnet network, definitely.
