YEAH! Thanks for the reply.... retro feelings coming back... communicating fr H>The Netherlands to Arkansas via BBS... wow...
Actually nobody... no users yet hahaha... hope to see some users soon but hav H>to customize the board.
Maybe you have some tips for me for promoting the BBS to get new users?

updating file areas, checking user accounts, etc. After all, Sysops

Daryl
I check QWK first now for learning and fun reading :)
Today I got my first (!) new user.
But I can't get the ASC (for eg logon.asc) editted via ANSI/ASC editors on my Windows 10 64 bit... I would like to change the Synchro BBS ASC in logon.asc replace by MASH logo... till now no luck. Shows me the ascii codes. Need to read more to understand how to do.
BBS and upload/download mail, and Bluewave as the reader. :)
Use Pablodraw. It supports Synchronet Ctrl-A codes.

Wasn't Bluewave already there in the 90s? I remember that name...

I used PabloDraw but it doesn't show me the logon.asc as a color logo... just the ASCII and CTRL-A codes. I also tried different sauce settings.

Well and truly, and I prefer Bluewave to QWK, it's a superior format.

I don't know much about the Bluewave format, but the QWK format was sufficient open and extensible that I've (over the years) addressed all its shortcomings in a backwards compatible way (including the QWKE extensions). So, even with its warts, I'm a fan of QWK.

There is one area QWK still falls down, and that is netmail. While there are workarounds, they are either limited (to: address length) or cumbersome. Bluewave's native netmail support is much nicer.

QWKE and Synchronet's own QWK extensions both address those
limitations.

I always go to the QWK menu first, download a packet and start reading. :) TL>Hoping to do it from my Android phone later today. I've just setup an offli TL>mail setup under Magic DOSBox on my phone. It uses Telix to call the BBS and TL>upload/download mail, and Bluewave as the reader. :)

Doesn't work transparently in Multimil, unfortunately.
Then, when I manually update the weather data on the BBS, I have:
CD\SBBS\TEXT
C:\SBBS\EXEC\ANS2ASC LCLWXBRF.ANS LCLWXBRF.ASC
COPY LCLWXBRF.ASC LCLWXBRF.MSG
DEL LCLWXBRF.ASC

I tried to download a telnet client for the Android (I want to say
the one from Rick Parrish), but I had trouble with it. Plus, I prefer
just doing it with the desktop, as it's easier to type messages, etc.
You have to select the "Ctrl-A" file type when you open the file. By default, it treats .asc files as just straight ASCII.Use Pablodraw. It supports Synchronet Ctrl-A codes.

Yeah, much easier that way, but it's nice to have an Android option. I can TL>do QWK mail on my phone, if I need to. :)

But it could. Perhaps if you mention it to the author (I think he's resumed development of it), he could address that.

I'll have to get with you sometime on that. The telnet app I tried to use (I think from Rick Parrish), wasn't working right on my Android, or
I didn't have it set up right.

I have sent and received FIDONet netmail via OLX, and the way SBBS is configured. I got a message from a Sysop today, saying he was having trouble with it. I sent a reply, asking if it's for FTN or QWK...and,
once he gave me that, I'd write up a "Cliff Notes" for him. I do like SBBS's feature of sending netmail via QWK Networking.
