From Mojo@1:103/705 to All on Sun Jan 21 14:27:37 2018
I have run into a problem that maybe someone cna suggest a way to fix this. I have games setup in SBBS and things were all working as they should until one day earlier last week windows decided to have a unexpected shutdown. After that now SBBS will not load and on the games anymore. It just blinks on the screen from a telnet connection and then returns to the menu waiting for me to make another choice. I look in the terminal server window and it shows it calling up the batch file to start the game but nothing ever comes up. I have tried to restore from a backup from a time when it all worked and it still does
nothing. So if anyone has any suggestions on a way to fix this that would be really cool. As I have tried everything I can to get them back to working and nothing has helped.

One other note I have taken the games from the difectory where they were installed to and copied a couple of them over to my test copy of SBBS and they work just find with the way they are in there directory.

    Thanks
    Mojo

There might be an additional "lock" or "inuse" file sitting in the door's directory (xtrn/* usually) - double-check for that. Restoring from backup in many cases, would not remove an *additional* file that was added after the backup.

I have taken a copy of the games directory and put it on my test copy os Synchronet and then went in and setup three of the games that would not work in it. And I made not no changes or did anything to any of the games. And all the games I setup work just fine without having to do anything to them. So something in there is keeping it from loading the game when I try to play it no mater which game I try. But I try that same game on the test bbs and it works just fine. So could something have gotten corrupted in Synchronet that would do this? I know there has been a couple of times I have seen messages on the screen that said windows shutdown unespectedly, could this do some damage to part of it?

I now also keep seeing that SBBSCTRL has terminated and give me a windows message do I want to search for a solution? So I am beginning to think that some has happened that is not going to be able to be fixed.

If this is the case and it can not be fixed and I have to do a new install of it is there a way I can get off of it all the messages for a NET that I started and move it to a new setup? Also is there a way to do that with all my file areas also if I have to do this?

    Thanks Digital Man

Is the "test bbs" and the other BBS on the same computer?

None that I can think of.

    Not likely.

What version are you running? Is there anything consistent about the state of of the BBS (e.g. Synchronet Control Panel) when this happens?

The test bbs is on a separate machine away from the bbs that is giving me the problems.

Hmmm, this is so strange with this and what ever has happened to it.

v3.17, I do not see any of this when it happens. I just go to the machine to check on things and find something has happened. One time it may be a reboot the next time it may be SBBS has quit for some reason as it did earlier today.
