Looking forward to seeing your avatar of choice. Mine changes regularly (for DM>testing reasons), but is currently my latest depiction of R2-D2. :-)
The avatars are shared across the message network (DOVE-Net) so that you see the avatars when reading the messages of anyone on the network, not just those using your personal BBS of choice. Sound fun? It is! Join in!

One thing I was wondering is, what if I choose one avatar on my BBS, then log onto your BBS and choose a different avatar, which one will people see on Dove-Net? Would mine on my BBS get overridden with the one I chose on your BBS or vice-versa?

Are ANSI music codes supported for avatars? Not sure since they're saved in BIN format.

In one of the ham radio digital modes (D-Star), if a stations signal isn't strong, you hear the R2-D2 all over the place.

Can happen with other digital modes. I have heard it on DMR and P25 as well TL>though usually not as pronounced as D-STAR.

Around here, there is little activity on any of the repeaters. However, we d RQ>hear a lot of travelers, especially in the summer, as well in April due to RQ>hams coming in for the DX convention here at the Visalia Convention Center.

Nice coverage.
Yet, while there is a Skywarn Training Net once a month,
Then you get these reports like:
1) The tornado sirens are going off.
2) I have a funnel cloud that's not rotating (likely is seeing scud).
3) It just started raining here.
Or they don't listen for a minute after they turn on the radio. A
special courtesy tone sounds when Skywarn is up...you wouldn't believe
how many ask "is the weather net up", when the repeater just said
"Skywarn" or "Weather Net Up"!!

Are you referring to Synchronet's user avatars? Those are simple 6x10 (or
ANSI/ASCII drawings, and I'm not sure there's a tool to convert any arbitrary text to that size.
