  • Help diagnosing segfault

    My BBS has been going down a lot in recent weeks. Today I finally found an error message in one of the various unix log files:

    Jan 6 01:12:22 bbs kernel: [295290.132655] sbbs/jsStatic[962]: segfault at 7f85f24dede0 ip 00007f85cb30556a sp 00007f85af7fb3e0 error 4 in libsbbs.so[7f85cb04b000+5dd000]

    Any idea what that might mean?

    RecentI have been getting a TON of JSON DB connect/disconnect messages from l y aone particular BBS that's running my Sports Stats door. Could this segfault be a result of that?

    Al, yes, Sports Stats has been around for a few years. You can download it from https://github.com/Kirkman/Sports-Stats

    It works as an ANSI door, and there is also an HTML version that works with echicken's synchronet-web-v4.

    However, because of this segfault issue, I am likely to update Sports Stats with some changes to protect my BBS from having the JSON DB hammered. I'll let everyone know if/when that happens.

    This tells me at static service thread (jsStatic) has crashed. You probably don't have many static services defined in your ctrl/services.ini file, so that should help narrow it down.
