I'm curious as to the "needed files" in C:\SBBS -- on my system, the only files I have are text messages saved from my QWK Mail Reader for later reference, the uninstall data, and the DSZ.LOG -- with everything else in various subdirectories, such as \BAJA, \CTRL, \DATA, \DOCS, \EXEC, \FIDO, \NETMAIL, \NODE# (1, 2, 3, or 4), \TEMP, \TEMPDIR, \USER, \WEB, and \XTRN. Then, in most all of those subdirectories, there are directories below them.

The system is working fine, and I didn't really see any need to put a bunch of data files in the main C:\SBBS directory.

If you want to see a standard Synchronet directory structure & files in it, you could have a look at the Synchronet CVS: http://cvs.synchro.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/
If you go there in your web browser, you can check there or if it's easier, you could click the "Download GNU tarball" link and extract it on your system to compare with your installation.

There's shouldn't be a dsz.log in your sbbs directory either. That's odd.

How'd you do that? Synchronet sets the DSZLOG environment variable automatically and uses the node's temp directory (so multiple simultaneous file transfers don't conflict).

Okay, but that won't have any effect on the protocol drivers (e.g. DSZ, SEXYZ) that Synchronet launches for user file transfers, since it sets the DSZLOG environment variable itself, over-writing any previous value you may have set before running sbbs.

If that batchfile is for running a terminal program or offline reader or something else for your use (not the BBS's), then it's no problem.
