the one in oct. 2017, was just to get out of town, my dad died on oct. 1. F>this one is a vaction (in long beach, wa. right now)
My condolences to your family. In the space of a year, from
September, 2006 to September, 2007, I lost my grandmother-in-law
(dropped dead), my Dad (pancreatic cancer), my wife (heart attack, 3
weeks shy of our 4th anniversary, and I never re-married), my best man (cancer), and my brother was nearly killed in a freak motorcycle wreck.
The "vacation" I got was to Florida after her death...there was a
funeral for her in central Arkansas, then one in Florida, where her
parents live, so I got a "double dose". Just like the time the state of
Florida flew me back down there to testify in an aggravated assault
trial from a vacation to Orlando the year before...neither were my idea
of "a Florida Vacation"...even though I'm originally from the Miami
area.
Ironically, I met my wife on a BBS that was run by the computer
science department at the University Of Arkansas At Little Rock. She
became a user, then Co-Sysop...and had promised to keep the BBS going,
if one of us died first. Also, we competed against each other fiercely
in the doorgames. She was a great winner, but she sure was a sore loser.
