    Good morning,
    I have a question for any sysops who might be using sexpots as a dial-up
    front end.

    If you are using it under linux, how easy was it to get it compiled and set
    up?

    My dial-up BBS is not running synchronet. Has anyone else tried it with another BBS package? Does it matter so long as the package is set up to
    answer calls via telnet?

    I think I know the answer to this one, but does it work with dial-up
    front-end mailers which are not configured to accept calls via telnet (i.e.
    I still have BinkleyTerm actually configured for dial-up answering)?

    I am having an issue with inbound dial-up callers and am wondering if
    having a linux-native package answering the calls might work better than
    having a DOS-based program, running under dosemu, attempting to answer
    calls. The later seemed to work just great until I upgraded to Debian
    Stretch. I have had a couple of dosemu BBS issues since, even after downgrading dosemu to the previous version.

    Easy for me, but of course it is, I wrote it. :-)

    It does (or should) not matter what the Telnet server software is.

    If the front-end mailer has the ability to pass the live comm handle to another program (e.g. sexpots), then yes, it should work. sexpots has the '-live <handle>' feature where an open comm port descriptor/handle can be passed to it which it'll use for the dial-up send of the connection.
