cool, this might be a silly question, were would I get EZBULLETIN
from, is it apart of sbbs software, i did search for it but no luck
but that would be me.

I have it on my BBS...but due to all the hackers, bots, etc. trying to
crash the BBS, I had to restrict the amount of files available to Guest
Users. What I may do, is allow Guests to VIEW what's in the areas, but
NOT to download them. But, I've come down with severe viral bronchitis,
so my BBS work is LIMITED for a bit.

Since there are no EXE or COM files in it, I can email the ZIP file to
you -- if you have FIDONet Netmail, drop a note to me at 1:19/33.

I did set it to where only Verified Users In Good Standing could post S>>something on EZWALL (the "wall" part of EZBULLETIN...since I don't know S>>the identity of those logging on as GUEST.

yes well only Verified Users would be a good idea

I have my bbs guest set at 99 don't now if that affects Ftp or not
thinking of deleting Guest altogether but if it efects FTP might have to thin S>of same thing else

If you're running Synchronet, Level 90 and Above is SYSOP ACCESS; and
it'll ask for the System Password. If they get it, they could shell to
DOS, and wipe out your entire computer...never mind stealing data.

On my BBS, here are my levels:

10 - Banned (for egregious rules violations)
20 - Restricted (all they can do is leave Feedback To Sysop)
30 - New User
40 - Guest User or Unverified (has not completed New User Logon Process
of providing Feedback on where they heard about the BBS, and what
they're looking for in it...plus going through the Telnet Email
Verifier. Those not completing the New User Logon Process within 48
hours of initial logon are deleted without comment).
50 - Verified User In Good Standing
60 - Special Access Or Donating User (donated money or items to the BBS)
70 - Amateur Radio Operators (proof of such license is required)
80 - Visiting Sysops (proof of running a BBS is required)
85 - Visiting GT Power BBS Sysops (garbled netmail password required)
90 - Sysop Staff (System password required)

how to fix that.

I think Synchronet's command-line shell is somewhat limited. I tried using it recently and I couldn't change to the other drive on my BBS PC (it has 2 drives on it). I'm not sure if that's a bug in Synchronet or if that is by design. I suspect it might be design, so that anyone using the OS command-line shell can't do too much damage.

No, that's not normal. Synchronet doesn't come with a system command shell replacement, if use ;SHELL for example, it runs your system's command shell (e.g. bash, cmd.exe).

I just tried it again and I was able to do it. I'm not sure what happened when I had tried it before.

You have to COMPLETELY EXIT the Synchronet Control Panel before you go
into the User Editor to do that...I ran into the exact same situation. I
have separate icon shortcuts for the Synchronet Control Panel, SCFG, and
the User Editor.

That's what Sysops are to do. Now, we won't do "all the work" in setup (otherwise it's our setup, and not theirs)...but we will help with
various issues. Once I'm shown the basic format of a deal, I can take it
from there. But, I've known some Sysops who had another Sysop do all the
work for them on setup, then that (ungrateful) Sysop took all the credit
for it...when he hadn't done a damn thing.

What I do with the ;SHELL command at the host console is just to get
me to the DOS SHELL (like when doing QWK Mail as I am now), then I open
another shortcut/window. However, I could probably set up a deal with
Doorway and use the Q program to edit files. But, I did notice with one sequence with the ;SHELL command, that if I didn't do any input for 10
minutes, the system disconnected me.

Yes I understand what the sysops do and what they do for me
and I do appreciate what they do for me, even if they do
setup same of program/layout and I would like to give them credit for
that, on my 2ndhoicecore,ddns.org:1024 in the bullitons I have done
that, will be doing that on my 1st Choice core after this and you
and other will be added + you it just remembering how they are.
