• ANSI Door

It seems one of them ran my ANSI viewer door and left, so it seems they're N>doing actual things. So they may be real users.

I have an ANSI online bulletins viewer. When I ran GT Power software,
it had an ANSI viewer called "The Smile Door", for the "Make A Kid
Smile" foundation. It had over 500 proprietary ANSI's...some with
animation, and some with ANSI music.

I can't remember if I set it up under Synchronet or not, as I could
use the "Intercept I/O" to make it work. But, I don't know if the
display of ANSI's would crash the BBS or not.

Sadly, many of the ANSI artists are dead and gone.

I don't see how it could.. anything that would run on a legacy BBS should run on SBBS with no issue..

There is usually a way to "Jerry Rig" something.

Just like hams, Sysops are experimenters. <G>

I really have to hand it to digital man for putting in the feature to intercept i/o from the comport to "standard, console, or none" (the
latter for a regular telnet connection). It allows for the non-fossil
doors to run under telnet, without having to use a major
workaround...although with the Today In History programs, I use the
Doorway module (originally done by Marshall Dudley, now done by Mike
Ehlert). No other BBS package that I know of, has such a feature...and
to me, that's what sets Synchronet above all the others. :)

I might be able to run those with just a batchfile...I'll experiment
with that later today. The local college campus (of which I'm an
alumnus) is having their annual fall campus picnic today...barbeque with
    all the trimmings. :P
