• SSH ERRORS

From Daryl Stout@1:103/705 to ALL on Sun Jul 2 21:30:00 2017
With a new router, a LinkSys EA7300, with 20 ports for forwarding BBS features, I was able to add SSH logons. However, in looking at the log,
I am constantly seeing "Read Failure". I have SSH "enabled" under the
Terminal Server...could I be doing something else wrong??

what name are those users trying to login with? i'll bet it is one being rejected and that ""error"" is just where they disconnected...

i was going to show an example but don't have one accessible at the moment... the logs were cycled yesterday...

You are getting those errors because Mirai bots are trying to connect to your port 22 and not using proper protocol.

I have no clue...all I was seeing was "Read Failure". I don't recall
the other errors, as I had to reboot the system for a software update.

OK, so I should just ignore that, then??

I do.. everyone who connects via ssh here says they can connect with no issue.

I did notice someone state that they could'nt connect to yours the other day though so I would at least test it to make sure .

It turns out I have to disable it. With the new router, and more "port forwarding ports", I still am going to need 25% of the ports for ham
    radio and non-BBS related tasks.

I wish my HTML knowledge was better than it was. I tried that
suggestion for modifying the Ftelnet deal on the website (I could not
connect with it), but I have an external FTelnet logon link for the BBS
at http://www.wx1der.com/bbsftlnt.htm -- and I'd also like to add some
    graphics to the page.
