If all real names are rejected, then I would look at any changes you made to the text/name.can or ctrl/alias.cfg files.
you let guest visitors play games? we allow them to look at the scores but t ML>can't play games... if they want to play a game, they have to register on th ML>BBS like everyone else... the potential for cheating is just too much...
But, some of the information doors won't let the user in, if they only have a "one word name/alias"...such as "Guest". That's why I had to
CHANGE it to GUEST USER. I see a bunch of folks try to logon in
several ways with just GUEST, and they get the message "Unknown User"...and they may think I don't have a GUEST account (some BBS's do not).
Mark,

The only doors they access are "information" or "entertainment". They
can NOT access ANY doors that involve scoring.
I agree with you, if they want to play the game doors, they have to
apply for access like everyone else...because the deal on cheating is
too much. Plus, if a Guest were to play a door that has a certain number
of turns in a day, the next "Guest" would be "locked out" of it until
after nightly maintenance.

can't you have GUEST USER as the real name and GUEST as the alias? either on ML>should let them in and satisfy those info doors that want two word names...
A simpler solution:
1. Set the Guest's real name to "Guest User".
2. Re-select the "Drop File Type" for the door's in question in SCFG and sel DM>"Yes" in answer to the "Use Real Names" prompt.
I tried that, and it didn't work...but can retry the setup. I don't
know if there's an option in Synchronet to "require real names" in the doors.

I mainly use DOOR.SYS and DORINFO1.DEF dropfiles, unless it's the Synchronet XTRN.DAT dropfile that's needed.

there is.. when selecting the drop file it gives an option for "real names K>only".
i just read a post from DM saying that there is such an option...
i don't know if the option mentioned covers all drop files or not... i would ML>expect it to, though... unless the option only shows up when certain drop fi ML>are selected...
