You probably have already imported and added all the areas in another library.

Heh i wish it was that, i finally figured it out, seems it may be a
linux syncrhonet thing, when i tell it to import filegate.zxx it seems
to be takeing the very last area and adding it, then it won't add
anymore till i go to that area and add a directory to it and then save, then i can import again and it will add the next one .... so im adding file areas one at the time right now pulling my hair out lol

That's weird....
When you first created the library, did you name a parent directory? I know Rob is on vacation right now but I'd post a message to him letting him know what you're dealing with.
I tried it here on my Pi and you're right, it imports all the areas in the filegate.zxx but only 1 saved. Strange...

the filebone zxx file is just a text file... it is in the old RAID TIC
processor format... here's a link to the latest one... lines
beginning with '%' are comments... if the file doesn't have the entire format explained, we can find that information for you if needed...

If filegate.zxx doesn't match the format of fidonet.na,
this is why there is a problem trying to import.
I don't think Synchronet has ever known what filegate.zxx is/was. Is
that something Janis decided to do on her own dime?
I don't know of much software out there that knows what filegate.zxx
is.
I think when I originally ran into the same issues, I just changed the format to match fidonet.na (apparantly much more widely used) style
and it imported just fine.

it is .zxx as a trick... instead of being numbered like the nodelist, she just uses .zxx... all of my file processing software works directly with it and is updated automatically any time a new one is sent out adding or removing an area
or updating an existing entry...
The format of filegate.zxx appears to be the same as filebone.na
(which is derived from the RAID configuration file format).

Only thing weird is that files with a .z?? extension usually indicates
a zipped file (in PKZIP format), but not in this case. When I first
saw the reference to filegate.zxx, I assumed it was actually a zip
file.

It was a recent regression in the file area import feature. It's now
fixed in CVS.
