Hi DM,

I have a strange one for you, this morning, I logged into my BBS and noticed that message pointers changed on "some" message areas. Some of them went all the way back to message number 1, while others were on just some random numbers.

I've put the pointers back to the end as they are supposed to be and I have'nt had any issues since.

I asked my CoSysop if he may have done it playing jokes on me, and he said the same thing happened to him also.

I've checked the logs, and there are nothing in the logs showing anyone doing a chuser command.

this is strange, I've never seen this happen. do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Something mucking with your msgs.cnf file? Check the date/time and that of the back-ups (ctrl/msgs.*.cnf).

Do you happen to be using the centerofawareness scripts or any other mods that might be modifying your configuration files directly?

centerofawareness? no, thats a new one on me. I don't believe I am using anything that would modify my configuration files. The largest modification apart from menu/textfiles on my BBS is ECwebv4. and afaik it makes no modifications to configuration.

Just looked that centerofawareness.net up and althought it appears to be pretty cool, I don't think it would be something I would want. I break enough of my own stuff without having to worry about networks breaking too :)
