• New message bases not showing up?

From Kinetix@1:103/705 to All on Thu Jun 8 19:35:02 2017
    Hi all,

I've got a bit of a head scratcher - any new message groups or sub-boards aren't
    showing up
for me (at sysop level) on my system.

There's nothing required to access the the groups or sub-boards, and while synchro has created
the files for the message areas, they're just not showing up as accessible.

My system is still very stock, not much changed with access control and whatnot - all the
stock messages bases are there and function, but all new ones I've added aren't appearing.

I'm hoping I'm overlooking something pretty obvious - but I have stepped through
    the original
documentation for creating message areas & groups, and I can't see what I've missed.

Mind you, I've done so much reading the past few days my eyes are a little on the square side.

    Thanks in advance!

    -Adam

Have you recycled the BBS since adding the areas?

The servers will automatically recycle when idle (no one logged-in), so that's not usually a problem.

How are you trying to view the message areas (e.g. logging via Telnet and using the default shell's 'J' command from the main menu)?

What's interesting is that I did a recycle and it didn't manage to change the situation.
However I realised I hadn't done a full shut down of sbbs and start it back up,
    and after
I did that, the bases have now shown up.

So, things seem better in this regard now but I may be running in to a minor issue with
    the recycling?

Recycles don't occur immediately (always). So if there was someone connected to the terminal server (for example), it might not recycle for many minutes or hours.

Right, I think I've caught that along the way, and I was fairly sure I watched it recycle
    (watching the logs).

I'll look to create another message base and watch what happens closely in regard to the
    recycle.

    Thanks!
