• New Sync Setup

From ED KOON@1:123/140 to ALL on Tue May 16 12:45:42 2017
I'm planning on setting up Sync as a second board with a new node number.

Currently running Wildcat 5 from 1997 and want to keep it running as it is. Is it possible to assign Sync different http and telnet ports so both boards can run at the same time? Ideally place login links to Sync on Wildcat's main html public display screen.

Also what Fido mail tosser should i use?

    Thanks :)

Yes, it is possible. Go to wiki.synchro.net and look under the How-To section.

Also what Fido mail tosser should i use?

It has it's own tosser but I would advise using binkd as a mailer.

Sync has built in tosser. SBBSECHO. As for assigning diffrent port numbers, it is possible. I dont know if you can link from Wildcat to Synch html pages though.

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply. Yes i currently have a html link to synchro
from Wildcat5 public web page bbs.docsplace.org. Works like a charm.

This will be a secondary bbs on /141 to evaluate. Sent Wins7 back today
    for a refund.. :)

Yes, that can be done. Does WC5 have the avility to initiate a telnet session to another host?

Also what Fido mail tosser should i use?

    sbbsecho. :)

If you're going to run the dev version of Synchronet (3.17), you also get a mailer (BinkIT), or you can use binkd with any version. Remember to run your mailer on a different port too and put that information into the nodelist.

Yes, it is. I have sync running with another board here. I actually have
both of them being called from a mystic matrix menu but, if you telnet to my address on port 26, you get sync directly, while port 23 goes to the matrix.

And, actually, if you telnet to port 2323, you get yet another board, running Magicka.

Also what Fido mail tosser should i use?

SBBSECHO, which comes with sync, is what I use.

    Yea me too..

I've ran Wildcat since V2.55S in 1991. Looked forward to upgrading but soon wound up very stressed out with all the bugs. One major bug prevented new
users from registering. Hector fixed that bug but i would have to subscribe to his AUP to get the fix. No thanks!

I'm impressed with Synchro so far. Got the basic config set and plan on
setting the backbone areas up today.

I ran PCBoard for years. Was very satisfied with it, and likely would still be running it if, the company had not gone bankrupt, (Clark Development). The lack of Internet connectivity convinced me to try Synchronet, and I too am impressed.
