Is there an easy way to ypdate to SP2 ...

I should be able to hit the upgrade button on my windows install.... but the internet explorer won't let me access some sites... I can navigate to synchro.net but cannot goto microsoft.com.

This is causing me way too much grief!!!

running antiquated OSes is so fraught with peril these days... this problem of retrieving old service packs is one of those perils and what lead me to abandon
w2k when it went TITSUP* on us some years ago... since then, we have moved everything to LTS releases of linux and don't see half the problems we used to deal with on a daily basis...

I have SP2 for Windows XP on my NAS. I still have customers who run XP and I keep SP1 and SP2 on hand. My NAS is not on the internet, just my intranet. If you want I'll see if I can setup for FTP from my Winserver setup.

Get a portable copy of chrome browser and install it. or use another pc that is currently updated grab your file and place on USB.

Tried to DL Firefox and it sayes I'm missing some dll files... Like I can get the synchronet install but cannot install the microsoft files, that are linked on synchro.net website...

I think the browser security of my xp insall is way way out of date...

What version of IE are you using?. A question, Since you are using a VM what is your base OS that is installed on the HD? If it is a later version of Windows, perhaps download the service packs with that?

I have setup the files on my Synchronet board of which you are already a user. Logon to wc.darktech.org:2424 and go the Transfer section and the files will be in the User to User. There are 3, SP2 and SP3 and IE8

that will not help if the SSL protocols are old and no longer allowed to be used... that's the main problem with using older browsers and OSes...
