• Synchronet exporting to AREAS.BBS

    Hi there.

When I use the export function from within Synchronet to append the information into the AREAS.BBS file, it is using the incorrect field. Instead of pulling the NEWSGROUP NAME from the message area, it seems to be pulling the SHORT NAME field.

This is giving me an incorrect format of:
    INTERNAL CODE SHORT NAME UPLINK
    instead of the proper:
    INTERNAL CODE NEWSGROUP NAME UPLINK

It isn't a major problem once it is known, but I just wanted to make sure it was known.

    Hi there.

When I use the export function from within Synchronet to append the information into the AREAS.BBS file, it is using the incorrect field. Instead of pulling the NEWSGROUP NAME from the message area, it seems to be pulling the SHORT NAME field.

That is correct. There is no "AreaTag" field in the SCFG configuration, so we use the short-name field when exporting to AREAS.BBS.

This is giving me an incorrect format of:
    INTERNAL CODE SHORT NAME UPLINK
    instead of the proper:
    INTERNAL CODE NEWSGROUP NAME UPLINK

That is the correct format. Newsgroups are for NNTP/USENET usage, not FidoNet.

It isn't a major problem once it is known, but I just wanted to make sure it was known.

    It's not a problem.
