bbs intead of being held for sysop to review it?

if it did, i would turn it off... it is too easy to find out if a user name is valid by looking for the bounce... once you know the user name, you have a target with which to start brute forcing passwords...

we won't mention that bouncing messages is another way to infect someone, either... they get the bounce and don't have a clue about it and click links without knowing they're infested...

but, you should know these things with a handle like that... i don't get it...

That would be nice. There's really so much spam around. I get hundreds
of emails a week to a domain I have and they're all spam for users that
don't exist. It's a bit of a honey pot. I wouldn't be surprised if there
was an option to bounce and I'll probably find that out in later posts.

you can either have them all dumped or have them all sent to a user(#?), generally the sysop... IIRC, sbbs.ini's [Mail] section is involved... it has DefaultUser=sysop which ISTR is where mail to unknown users is sent for various
reasons... check the wiki for this option's use...

plus you might look at CTRL/spambait.cfg and add the persistent ones there so sync will not allow connects from them in the future...

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you referring to Internet (SMTP) email? If so, the sysop has always had the option of either bouncing mail for unknown users or forwarding to a default recipient (e.g. the sysop). No change in this regard for v3.17.

Do it have loop trap to stop loops some spammers put fake addresses to
bounce to.

Yes, it detects loops. There's no special handling for spammers wrt bounce messages.

Righ now it sends to 1 if any unknown users so I change it to 0 or leave
