My Mom is still doing pretty good for 91 -- but I do all the driving,
shopping, etc. for her -- and even help with laundry. She has arthritis
so bad in her right hand, that I may soon have to help feed her.
Sadly, he has gotten worse. The vibration of the motorcycle down the
road (never mind all the pot-holes), really takes a toll on him.
My late father HATED using it...as does my brother. Yet, my Mom loves
it, to keep in touch with family. And, I use it for the BBS, for
ham radio applications, and for some websites.
Okay, I have sent a another test netmail message to see if you have fixed it
I have to set that back up. I haven't been on the BBS in several days.
I got a clean bill of health for being over bronchitis...but may soon
need abdominal hernia surgery.
were do I changed the FTP access levels , so I can do the same.
That's with the GUEST account. There is a guest.js that you can
execute as Sysop, and it will create a Guest Account. Then, you can
adjust those settings as desired.
yes well yours would be better than mine, but a lease I am trying to >S> thank the sysps that have help me with my BBS
I have a bulletin online, entitled "Want To Be A Sysop?? Read This!!".
It has several files in one, including:
1) Definition Of A Twit -- courtesy of Grant Bierman. This does not >necessarily reflect the opinions of the Sysop, but it comes close. <G>
2) You Want To Be A Sysop?? -- courtesy of Tom Ezell.
3) The Thankless Job -- courtest of Kris Lewis.
4) Caring For Pet Sysops -- courtesy of Fred Hunt.
5) The Sysop of a BBS -- a poem I wrote.
Some of the items are cute, but sadly, some are true...with what goes
on...and I've been Sysoping for over 25 years now.
It is good that you mums doing pretty good for 91 and that you help here S>with thing and that you will be able to help feeding you mum then the time S>came, my mums 93 getting on to 94 and for here age she is doing really well S>I do call and visit mum each day to see if she whats help with any thing and S>take her to get grocies and things but mostley mum does most things her self S>and live by her self
sorry to hear that, I hope thing improve for your bother per the pot holes
okay, mine is the other way round Dad liked the computers mum doesn't.
that's ok per the bbs, and its good that you got a clean bill of health anyw
Okat cool, I will have to drop into you bbs and havwe a look at all this S>and I would be about the same as you per the years being sysoping.
I call my Mom several times a day, and I'm also her computer guru. If
I note a "Windows Update" on my system, I usually go over there, and do likewise with hers. Normally, I can do some things remotely, but if it requires a reboot, it's best I do it at her place.
I saw a picture on Facebook where "The Pothole Repair Truck Fell Into
A Pothole!!" -- your tax dollars at work!! <G>
I went to the foot doctor today. Once a month, I have them trim the toenails, because the arthritis in my hands is so bad, that I can't squeeze the clippers. At least I can still type at the keyboard...considering all the work I do on the BBS.
That bulletin is in File Board 1, File Area 1, in the filename of BEASYSOP.ZIP -- you can get it via anonymous FTP.
We do have a chance of thunderstorms here through Tuesday (Oct. 10),
but then it should be dry for a few days. We really could use some rain here...fire danger and burn bans have been on the rise.
Hi Daryl
well it is good you are helping yourmium with all that
I saw a picture on Facebook where "The Pothole Repair Truck Fell Into A Pothole!!" -- your tax dollars at work!! <G>
ok, did it get out.
well it would be good to get done make it easyer for you per keyboard.
Yes I dropped in and downloadet thank you
do you have ebullenton in your ftp same were
well it sound as though you nead the rain since it is dry there , did
you get the thunderstorms or did it bypass you
I'm writing her checks for her now. The arthritis and nerve damage in her right hand is so bad, she can't hold onto things like pens. She can still work at the computer, and eat, though. I took us to lunch at a
local Pizza Hut the other day for their buffet. She had 4 pieces of
pizza, and some chicken alfredo. I had the alfredo, then saw they had
put a pan of lasagna out...and I went after that one. In fact, I never
did eat any pizza or salad...their lasagna is to die for.
As I saw in the FIDOGazette, as Janis Kracht so aptly put it, "Even Sysops have to eat". And, have you noticed, that at certain times of
the day, people get the idea that it's time to eat?? <BG>
They probably had to get a tow truck towing a tow truck towing a tow truck to get the pothole truck out of the pothole. <BG>
well it would be good to get done make it easyer for you per keyboard.
I became a touch typist by running a BBS...I never took a typing
course in my life. There is a URL online to "check ones typing speed",
but I haven't done that yet.
I keep thinking of the blond joke (don't know where those got
started), as to how you know when a blond has been at your computer. There's "white-out" (liquid paper) spots all over the monitor. <G>
Yes I dropped in and downloadet thank you
do you have ebullenton in your ftp same were
I don't recognize the filename. What are you looking for in
particular??

We got a little rain earlier in the week (at least at my apartment).
We are supposed to have thunderstorms overnight and Sunday, but right
now, rainfall amounts don't look that excessive...and the severe
weather threat looks to be isolated at best.

Hi Daryl
Okay you seem to a busy person with you mum and bbsing and work, would
keep up out of trouble then.
yes you have to eat same part of the day
I don't recognize the filename. What are you looking for in particular??
ok, wrong file name, it the bulletin that I was trying to netmail you to S>e-mail me was it ezbulleton or samething like that.
oh well you got same rain, perhaps more will came later.
Hi Daryl
Hi, Ian...
It depends on what type of trouble we're talkign about. <G>
I'm having to wait until midday to graze. I'm going in for a CT Scan this morning, to check for a possible lower inguinal abdominal hernia.
Go to the Synchronet files area at wx1der.dyndns.org -- look for EZLOG10.ZIP -- it's a combination bulletins and wall program for Synchronet, to replace the default Synchronet logon module...although
you can still run that default module AFTER this utility is done. You
have to set it up in C:\SBBS\BAJA\EZLOGON -- or it won't work. I customized the bulletins screen, where I have 60 bulletins available...covering items for the BBS, weather, and amateur radio.
We had some rain and storms yesterday morning, but it looks to be dry and warm for much of the week. Chances of storms increase again by the weekend, though.

I saw where it had been blocked by invalid password attempts. I sent
you a netmail with the logon credentials. You can netmail me at 1:19/33 (FIDONet) if you have any questions.
We may get an inch or two of rain this weekend...but, there's also a threat of severe weather (large hail, damaging winds, flooding rain, frequent lightning, and tornadoes). By late next week, we might not get above 15C (59F) for highs.
Hi Daryl
yes probably is the password, have sent a netmail to you.
okay, I hope the bad weather effect you to much or get to cold for you.
yes probably is the password, have sent a netmail to you.
Got the email, made the change as requested, and sent a reply back.
While the cold weather makes the arthritis (and now, degenerative
disk disease in the spine) hurt more...it means no insects (especially
the stinging ones), no heat illness, and no tornadoes. We may see
severe weather Saturday night into Monday...so, the BBS may be down for
a bit. Lightning dances around here like an ungrounded faraday cage
during thunderstorms.
