    Greetings,

I've been lurking for a bit here, but now I have a question. :)

I'm running 3.17a (upgraded about 30 days ago) and I decided to create a badip.msg file and test it using my own IP address added to the ip.can file.

When I connect via telnet, it disconnects me without displaying anything.

Does anyone know if this feature is disabled or maybe I'm doing something wrong or a possbile bug?

I'm sorry if I didn't provide enough info, please feel free to slap me! :)

Whats the content of the file? If it is one sentence and you are connecting locally, the connection maybe so quick that it is displaying the message then disconnecting and clearscrn (just a guess).

could it be being sent and the connection is cut so fast that you don't get a chance to receive it?

what does your log say? does it note that the message is sent and then the connection is cut? i don't know if DM has put this level od detail in the logging, though...

[edit] NVM, i see that DM has looked, found it was a bug and fixed it already... [/EDIT]

something i'd like to see, which may already be available, is a way to list the
IP in the msg when it is transmitted... i suspect it should be able to be done but haven't dug in to really see... and, like you say, testing it may be slightly difficult if one has only one system to work with...

Well it's the command shell that's doing the uppercase conversion. Anyway, that's the problem. Just type ;LIST and it'll prompt for the path. Then you can type it with lowercase letters.

do you mean this QWK tag line? you're probably not seeing it in your local message base because it is written to the messages on export but the copy in your local base is not rewritten with it in place... i remember on fidonet when

I dont know about the qwk tags, but the ftn tags from the editor I use does write it to the message locally, but only when it is saved. If you read the message later, it will be there.

i'd imagine that that is possible... just like in FTN, the tear and origin lines were only added to the exported messages... then one mail tosser came along with the option to also write them to the local message bases, too... then most all of them were doing that... the idea being that folks could see locally written messages like others on other systems saw them...
