    Since yesterday morning, Synchronet keeps crashing.

    * No mods were installed.
    * Running latest version.
    * Aside from ANSI screens, nothing has been modified.
    * This machine is a dedicated BBS machine. No one used it for anything.

    Should I just reinstall the software ontop of itself? I'll have to go to Event Viewer here in a moment and see what's causing it.

    Ran a system sweep for viruses and malware = 0 found.

    Am I the only one having this issue?

    So... v3.16c?

    Yes, that I know. There have been fixes made in v3.17 (the current development version), which could possibly fix whatever problem you're having. You could try running the latest development build as a test, at least.

    Yes v3.16

    Oddly enough the issue has "self corrected". I didn't do anything to fix it, I was going to go through the Event Viewer to check out any App log reports and looked at the uptime (I got distracted for a few hours), and left it alone.

    Odd...

    I run 3.17 using sbbsctrl under winxp, and once in a blue moon I get an occasional crash, not if its running IDLE, only after I've re-run nodes after setting something up, I've yet to track down what it could be, I cannot trace it back from anywhere.. ROB, When SBBSCTRL crashes like this, it will ask if I want to send an error report. that does'nt go to you does it? it goes to M$?

    Thats why I've never cared to send one, and it crashes very seldomly. that it has'nt been a bother enough to bug you guys about it.

    Such an automated crash report would not get to me, so yeah, I guess M$ would get it.

    lol, kinda what I figured.. its few and far between, but it has happened.. and I'm sure its something I have done to do it too.. lol.. as long as I leave the BBS machine alone I have such great uptime. :-)

    Well - this is what I did AFTER my last successful post on it:

    1. Ran AVCleaner - some PUPs found, no big deal.
    2. Ran CCleaner - cleaned registry too. Nothing to write home about.
    3. Ran MBAM - found 12 PUPs, again nothing to write home about.
    4. Defragged the drive, made a ZIP backup then rebooted.

    All is working for the most part. What I did notice after the reboot is that I would run a new message scan and it would be a lower start message number like "9 of 1080", I'll read a post then it re-syncs and says "1070 og 1080". It's ony doen that one on all the message bases. But it's ok now...

    When it did crash - Windows 7 stated it was the Command Shell (or whatever it was), kinda tired now, and don't remember off hand.

    But it's tits now. :)

    i think a closer look will reveal that the first number you see is X new posts in that area which contains Z posts in total... then when you move around in the area, the number changes to the message number Y of the post you are on in the area which contains Z posts in total... but this may also depend on how you
    get into and read the messages... eg: i do not "read mail now" on logon but use
    the "R"ead option at the main menu once i've selected my current area as indicated in the prompt bar at the bottom of the screen...
