Hi all,
If I want to deactivate the User Guest, this error is shown: http://www.bilder-upload.eu/show.php?file=fb85d6-1499473566.png
The Path is wrong, it must be:
C:\sbbs\data\user\user.dat
^
I think, that will be in "\exec\useredit.exe"
Something else (sbbsctrl.exe?) must have the user.dat file locked. Try restarting the BBS.Restarting BBS has no function to that.
No, actually the Win32 API supports forward or backslashes in file paths.Oh yes, this is right. I forget this feature. :D

Hi,

It is possible to start the useredit.exe with options from Windows-console to see if there is a error message? If I start it from console, it found no user.dat
Interesting. Perhaps reboot the computer then. That was the perfect hint. But this is very obscure, that I must reboot the computer to run the useredit.exe without an error. ;-)

It's not normal. Something had your user.dat file open and locked. Without rebooting, you could have found that process and killed it, but rebooting was an easier instruction to give.
I have the same issue - I've not had much need to use the GUI user editor however and just do it all via UEDIT once logged in. But I seem to get the

You would have to track when this happened.
I believe that once you are logged in as a sysop, the user.dat is locked, so that not two "sysops" work at the same time.
Because, after a fresh start of Windows and Synchro it always works.

they are complete so the record is pretty much live... it would be nice if there was something in place so that if you are viewing a user record and another operator changes it that the screen would indicate it was changed and maybe even reload it... possibly checking the record in similar fashion to the spinning cursor thing being emitted...

It will probably rarely happen that at the same time two sysops on the same user account screw around, but it makes sense to display the user account for the second sysops only as a view and not editable. A
little flag "in use" shown to the second sysop or something else.

wow, you use 50% of your cpu time for security? ;-)
Would not it be better to run the BBS on a computer on which nothing else runs.
were not happy with that at all... it meant that the data entry folks had to set those cards aside and come back to them later... instead i coded a live update method as i described... they loved it and it helped increase
I agree fully.. the only virus scanners I run are CMDLINE scanners..
Wie hast Du dieses Problem gel.st?
Zweitens: Der programmierer muss eine Art "records execute"
Warteschlange programmieren, die eine gewisse "Intelligenz" haben
muss.
Wie hast Du dieses Problem gelost?

Okay, the virus scanner periodically scans the filebase, or upload directory?

I'm lost in the German Language..
Hi Tim,

Since I dont't allow uploads, I scanned my filebase when I added it.How do you start the scan after an upload automatically?
Hi Tim,
sorry... Total confusion. ;-)
How did you solve the problem?

sorry about the "wrong" language, I play around with some translating solutions, which will post the translations into the post directly.
Your solutions with buffering ans merge two different records changes togehter is a good idea.
But, how does the first user know whether the change of the second
user makes sense, if I have understood correctly?
RA I'm running in thw middle of the 90er under OS/2.
A very very good BBS Software at this time.
Is the further development of RA not adjusted?
Which version do you use?
I think, I must visit your BBS. :-)
your RA BBS is accessible by telnet?
There are options in SCFG to do that, I think its uner file options > can't quite remember.. but there are a few ways to go about it depending on the shell being used, etc.
yup... bbs.wpusa.dynip.com... standard telnet port...

I cant establish a telnet connection to this address.
The IP 40.136.241.197 I'm able to ping, but no telnet session... :(
RA: I know, that the bbs software has been sold to another guy then
the original RA coder. Where can I download the last beta? I want to
test it.
what is your IP address? you may have gotten it blocked...
