I've searched all over but found very little in the way of a door or mod to use for the purpose of using this method to verify the person logging in.
I was thinking that using a Twilio API might work for this purpose (ex: https://www.twilio.com/go/security-verify-sales-1).
and I ported a QR code generator for him to use.
You might want to reach out to nolageek from Capitol Shrill BBS. He was working on a TOTP 2FA mod a while back. We chatted about it for a while and I ported a QR code generator for him to use.
Generating your own codes and sending them via SMS via Twilio is probably easier, but TOTP is probably best overall (free, more secure).
Apparently I added this to the git repo at the time: exec/load/qrcode.js, in case it's useful in your project (or to anyone else who's reading).
