Here is my dilemma... trying to add new file libraries that are CD or mounted ISO images. Either way, both are non-writeable. Afer I create the library, I'd like to use the 'Import Areas' and choose the 'Directory Listing' option, but it appears to want to write the dirs.raw file to the mounted read-only
file system and the import fails.

Is there a way to stop doing that? write the dirs.raw file someplace else, like a temp folder? The images do not have a copy of directories to import, so being able to do this would help a bit, to date I have been writing custom scripts to create specific files that I can import the file areas, but it is tedious.

Wondering if there is something I am missing or if this option to write
the dirs.raw during directory listing import someplace other than the
file area doesn't exist (yet?)

Yes, choose the Import Areas->DIRS.RAW option, then when it prompts for the path for the dirs.raw file, point it to a writeable directory (and a file that doesn't exist). SCFG will ask if you want to create the file, choose Yes.

I had to do pretty much the same patching (rigging) to import close to 10 shareware CDS to my system that I have on a thumbdrive, I exported the dirs, then patched some info from dir listings on the CDs themselves, the reimported, actually created batchfiles to do all this and it made it much less of a headache.

Been doing a lot of bash scripting to import files myself, but each CD ended up being so customized I was looking for alternate methods to at least add the file structure to SBBS.

Yes, it does... If any are NightOwl, I would be happy to send you some exports of the areas, all the nightowls are structired like 001A 002A, etc, I went into the PCB areas of the nightowl disk after doing an RAW export of file directories then just copied/pasted and matched each dir title to the physical dir into a new list to import, worked perfect. I did 2 manually, then created a batcfile to automate the others.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean man.. I have a ham radio "Shareware CD" but all the software are in sub dirs under sub dirs, with no type of file_id, etc at all.. importing that one was a labor of love, half the software is in source code too. but it has some great software on it, so I had to do it, I have a couple more I'm going to tackle around the same as what your talking about, I believe I'll let them sit around for a bit longer before messing with them and tackle other stuff :-) I have enough files online as it is lol..
