I created a plain Windows XP machine to install the RG 05-11 as you suggested.
When running the INSTALL.EXE, I had this Runtime error 200 issue, so I patched the .EXE file, and the installation software ran through.
However, after selecting the directory I wanted to use to run the files, I got the following error message:
Error processing RENEGADE.DAT
I could not execute RENEGADE!
Would that be something on the file I had downloaded (rg0511f.zip)?

Try installing 98-101D and then Y2KA2 and see if it will execute.
Past versions of Renegade may not run correctly unless the system date/time is set wayyy back.
RENEGADE.DAT missing means the configuration cannot be loaded, or the system cannot run (missing modem, date/time problem etc).
What happens when you run with the -L switch?
Would you recommend anywhere where I could download the 98-101 release?
